SensDesk is HW group's portal technology, and SensDesk.com is its paid online service. It brings your ARES12 LTE, STE2 and NB-2x1Wire devices together on one screen and adds what the device alone cannot do: SMS and phone calls handled by the portal, long history and reports.

An overview of your probes
The dashboard counts the sensors that are normal, in alarm, invalid or disabled, then lists the latest events. Locations and device groups let you sort your probes by site.
Devices connected over the mobile network or NB-IoT appear in the same place as those on the local network.
The safe range: the setting you must not forget
Each probe is given a safe range, called SafeRange. It is sent to the device, which notifies the portal as soon as the value leaves the range, and the alert goes out within 1 to 10 seconds according to HW group. On a battery-powered device in low-power mode, this delay can be longer.
There are also notification ranges, with no limit on their number, which are checked by the portal alone when the reading reaches it. Their delay can range from one second to 15 minutes.
HW group stresses one point: set this range for each probe rather than keeping the default value. You also need to allow for the delay that prevents an alert at every defrost.
SensDesk.com subscriptions
One-year subscriptions. SMS messages and phone calls are included up to the monthly limit, with no gateway to buy. We can quote for them together with your equipment.

Compare and document
These two screens are most useful when a temperature raises questions and you need to understand what happened.
The multigraph overlays several probes, even on different devices: a cold room and the room next to it, for example. 
The PDF report combines the graph and the alarms for the period, and is sent by email.
What SensDesk adds to a device
- Monitoring of the device itself. The portal warns you when a device loses its power or connection.
- All settings in one place. Beyond five devices, HW group recommends the portal rather than each device's web interface.
- Automatic actions. Email, SMS, activating an output or sending an SNMP alert, based on a threshold.
- A team. Settings belong to the team rather than to the person who created the account, so you do not lose everything if that person leaves.
- A link to your software. Values can be read in XML or over SNMP.
SMS through SensDesk or through your own SIM
SensDesk.com sends SMS messages and phone calls through the Twilio service, at no cost beyond the plan. If you own an HW group SMS-GW3 gateway, you can link it to your account and use your own SIM card.
For a network of sites
HW group also offers SensDesk Pro, installed on your own server and usable on a closed network, and SensDesk DC, for a service open to the internet. These licences are quoted individually.

The device sends its own alerts by SMS, phone call or email, without going through a portal. It comes with a 3 m probe, an antenna and a power supply, and its backup battery lasts about 24 hours in a power cut. All you need to add is a SIM card.

Frequently asked questions
Is SensDesk compulsory?
No. The ARES12 LTE Set works on its own, and the NB-2x1Wire and STE2 can use HWg-cloud, which is free. SensDesk becomes useful for SMS and phone calls on the NB-2x1Wire, for a long history or for several sites.
Can we try it?
HW group offers a demo account on sensdesk.com, with no device needed, and advertises a 30-day trial.
How often does the portal receive readings?
By default, according to HW group, every 15 minutes for a device on a local network and every 10 hours for an NB-IoT device. A value outside the safe range is sent without waiting for that transmission, although there may be a delay on battery power.
