Home Why independent monitoring
Why independent monitoring
A second reading that does not depend on your refrigeration controls.
What it's for
- A second reading, separate from your refrigeration controls
- Telling someone when a reading goes outside your limits
- Keeping a history of readings
What it's not for
- Controlling or restarting your refrigeration
- Securing your controller, or replacing your on-call cover
- Ensuring your compliance on its own
Why separate the measurement
When the reading, the alarm and the control all go through the same equipment, a failure or a compromise of that equipment can hide everything at once. A separate probe, on its own network, does not depend on that equipment.
This does not fix the security of your controller, which has to be dealt with using the official recommendations. We summarise them in this article.
