Choosing a solution
Efento Cloud, SensDesk, HWg-cloud or Syclance: which platform for your temperatures?
Four platforms, plus a device that can do without one. Here is how to choose according to how you want to be alerted, how much history you need and how many sites you have.

A probe is only as good as what happens once the reading has been taken. Seeing a curve remotely, getting a call at 3 am and supplying a report for an inspection are three different needs, and the platforms do not meet them in the same way. Here is how to choose, starting from your priorities.
Start with one question: who needs to be woken up?
If an email alert is enough, for a small stockroom during the day for example, the free HWg-cloud portal will do the job. If someone has to react at night, you need an SMS or a phone call. The ARES12 LTE Set sends them itself using your SIM card. SensDesk.com includes them in its subscriptions: 40, 75 or 100 per month depending on the plan. Efento Cloud also sends SMS messages, with credit at extra cost, and Syclance with an optional plan.
How long should you keep the history?
HWg-cloud keeps 10 days, which is enough to understand a recent breakdown but not to answer a question asked three months later. SensDesk.com offers 30, 365 or 730 days depending on the subscription. Efento Cloud and Syclance display graphs and tables over the period you choose, and their reports and exports let you do your own archiving.
Do you need reports?
Efento Cloud schedules non-editable PDF reports, showing the number and duration of threshold breaches, and CSV reports. SensDesk.com produces PDF reports, from 1 to 5 depending on the subscription. Syclance exports to CSV, Excel, PDF and XML. HWg-cloud has no reports.
One site or several?
Efento Cloud arranges sensors in a tree that you structure yourself, allows a floor plan per room and accepts an unlimited number of users, with rights per site. SensDesk.com offers locations and groups, and accepts 1 to 3 users depending on the subscription. Syclance handles multiple sites and multiple accounts, and is configured to match your organisation.
What does each solution cost?
- Efento Cloud: included for 5 years, with the SIM card, in our packs from €216 excl. VAT. The sensor is yours to keep.
- HWg-cloud: free for up to 20 devices.
- SensDesk.com: €157.90, €515.40 or €1,308.80 excl. VAT per year for 5, 10 or 25 devices.
- Syclance: by quote, with the LoRaWAN pack.
- No portal: the ARES12 LTE Set at €587.70 excl. VAT, plus your SIM plan.
Also check what happens when the device goes silent
A temperature alert assumes the device is working. SensDesk and HWg-cloud flag a device that has stopped communicating. A device on its own cannot report its own failure, which is why it is worth linking even an ARES12 LTE to a portal if you can. The simplest approach is still to test an alert when the system is installed, then at regular intervals.
